- Review and recommend amendments to the Election Code
- Review recommend amendments to the Chief and Council By-Law, Code of Conduct, and other governance policies that directly affect all Members and Nation operations
- Provide independent review of Chief and Council remuneration and expenses
- Engage Members on and off reserve before recommendations are finalized
Committees
Election and Governance Advisory Committee
Chief and Council established the Election and Governance Advisory Committee in 2025 by Band Council Resolution. Seven Nation Members sit on the Committee, which meets regularly and is supported by a Governance Advisor. Councillor Representatives also attend meetings to help further their development and understanding of Nation issues, opportunities, and operations.
The Committee reviews how the Nation governs itself, with a focus on the Election Code and other policies that govern Chief and Council, as well as broader Nation by-laws and policies that affect all Members. It is an advisory body. Its recommendations go to Chief and Council and to the Membership, where final decisions are made. Its job is to help make sure that the rules and policies governing the Nation are clear and that leadership answers to Members.
Committee members are Nation Members that give their time in the interest of the Nation. Serving on a committee means regular meetings, working sessions, materials to read and review beforehand, and engagement sessions that can fall on days, evenings, or weekends. It also means being bound by confidentiality and making fair recommendations on decisions that directly affect their neighbours and family.

Housing and Urban Development Advisory Committee
Chief and Council established the Housing and Urban Development Advisory Committee in 2025 by Band Council Resolution. Seven Nation Members sit on the Committee, which meets monthly and is supported by a Governance Advisor. Councillor Representatives also attend meetings to help further their development and understanding of Nation issues, opportunities, and operations.
The Committee reviews housing allocations and advises on land development, infrastructure, and planning on Reserve. It is an advisory body. Its recommendations go to Chief and Council, where final decisions are made. Its job is to help make sure housing and development decisions are fair and in the best interests of the Nation, and that Members can see how they are made.
